Cecilia Calero obtained her PhD in Biology (Neuroscience) at the University of Buenos Aires in 2011. After obtaining her PhD, she began her postdoctoral work under the supervision of Dr. Mariano Sigman at the Integrative Neuroscience Laboratory (FCEN-UBA, Argentina).

Currently, she has a position appointed by the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) and she leads a research project called ‘Little Teachers’ at the Neuroscience Laboratory (Torcuato Di Tella University); where she also performs as the co-director.

The “Little Teachers” project focuses on how teaching skills are developed since very early ages. Her group seek to understand the relationship between the ability to teach and the learning experience itself, the importance of peer tutoring and the impact of other cognitive skills, such as metacognition and empathy, in the way we teach.

The project main goal is to understand how teaching abilities develop through life and aims to shed new light and provide information about the teaching brain.
