Christophe Pallier is a researcher at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Using methods from psycholinguistics and cognitive neuroscience (e.g. functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging; fMRI), his work has focused on speech processing, word recognition and more broadly language comprehension. Lately, his efforts focused on the cerebral bases of syntactic representations. He has also performed some landmark studies of second language acquisition and bilingualism. He has dealt with the issue of the effect of age of acquisition on second language learning, enriching our understanding of the so-called critical period  for language acquisition.
